Our current church hall is badly in need of refurbishment and so we have decided to build a completely new hall in the same place, to replace it. The original hall was in kit form and was meant to last 25 years max, and we’ve had this one for around 50 years. It has taken us some time to come to a real realisation about our needs as we plan our new hall. Having seen the large numbers of people using the hall, we realise that we definitely need something bigger and also some meeting rooms.
We have appointed the Architect, Nick Renwick, who is going to lead us through the process of building our hall. We now have planning permission not only to build the hall but also to sell a strip of land on the car park in order to help fund the project. We are currently looking for grant funding and hope, with the help of the congregation and users to be able to pay for the new hall. The current expected price is in the region of £500,000. We expect to raise £250,000 from the sale of the land and have £92,000 in hand from donations.
We believe that this whole project will further the mission of our church and enable us to function more fully as a church family. Please pray for us as we all make this step of faith. There are many people who have great needs as we are going through Covid-19 and we are hoping to offer friendship and love to all, and a sense of family through the facilities in our new hall, including a coffee bar and cinema club, just to mention a couple of plans. There will be a chance for young and old to meet in our new facility engendering friendship and Christian love and restoring self-esteem after this terrible pandemic.
